To Jesus through Mary! A warm hello from Joy Valley to you and yours, wherever you are! We wanted to take a quick moment to thank you all for your interaction with us! Whether it’s a kind word about The Cause of Our Joy, a sharing of something incredible the Lord has done in your life, or a prayer request for a loved one- we LOVE hearing from you. We are happy to pray with and for you. We consider it an honor that you would include us in the joys and sorrows of your life.
Our desire is to be present to you. When everything is virtual and distant and cold, our biggest goal is to hear you, to talk to you, to walk with you.We need that interaction, too! It has been an isolating year and having you, our friends, reaching out to us is life-giving! So, thank you!!
And, as a little sign of our gratitude for all you do for us, we decided to do a Lenten giveaway. Sophia Institute Press is a faithful Catholic publishing company and we would like to give away a free book from them to one of our readers! (Keep reading for more details.)
We’ve got some fun, insightful, and thought-provoking resources for you today, so keep reading for all that and the giveaway details! And without any further ado, let’s get into this!
Giveaway Details
As we near Holy Week, we figured a book that can help you reflect on the events leading up to Christ’s suffering redemption would be helpful. The Pain of Christ and the Sorrow of God is the perfect companion for the final week of Lent. To be entered for the giveaway, please respond to this email with what your Lenten sacrifice has been this year.
Restless Heart
As we continue through the season of Lent, it can be easy to forget why we are doing what we’re doing. In fact, keeping our eyes trained on Heaven can be very difficult when things here are so distracting. We found The Restless Search For and Finding God to be something that resounded pretty strongly for us. Check it out if you are feeling the existential longing for something that truly satisfies.
Our Guardian Angels
We’ve really been enjoying reading Philip Kosloski’s stuff lately. He’s had some fantastic articles on St. Joseph that we’ve loved. Seems this week his writing is focused on guardian angels and these two pieces caught our eye:
—10 Mysterious Things to Know About Guardian Angels
—Padre Pio’s Daily Prayer to His Guardian Angel
We thought we knew a thing or two about guardian angels, but after reading these articles, we can definitely say our education was incomplete!
Something Fun
In our perusing, we purposely were looking for something lighthearted for both women and men. Here’s what we found:
—12 Things Every Catholic Woman Should Have in Her Purse
—10 Great Podcasts for Catholic Men
Marian Minute
We REALLY recommend that you read this next article. It is beautifully written and it struck us to the core. If you are looking for a Lenten meditation or if you or someone you know is suffering right now, please take the time to read The Healing Strength of Mary’s Stillness and Silence at Calvary. It is a lovely meditative piece for us as we take up our crosses.
St. Joseph Novena
Mark those calendars! In the year of St. Joseph, in the month of St. Joseph, pray the novena to St. Joseph ending on the Solemnity of St. Joseph! (Wow- we’ve never written his name so many times in one sentence!) The novena starts on Thursday the 11th and promises to be particularly powerful at this pivotal time in history! Please join us and get as many people as you can to pray as well!
Marian Center Update
From March to May 31, the Marian Center is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10-3. Please let us know if you have any prayer intentions you would like us to remember!
